Welcome to my second ever blog post!
Today I wanted to talk a little bit about making this website. The most experience I have with coding prior to this was customizing my Tumblr circa 2014, so jumping into this was a bit daunting because Neocities is VERY code heavy. So why pick this platform over something like Wix or Squarespace? I’m glad you asked, you’re so attentive. For one I had used both aforementioned website builders in the past and what stood out to me wasn’t the ease that they advertised, instead I kept getting lost in the tabs when I tried to do customization beyond just changing template text or color. On top of that my website looked so sterile. Absolutely no whimsy or joy in site…. sight… hehe. What drew me to Neocities was seeing the wide range of websites people have made on this platform. All of the websites here that I’ve seen so far have a nostalgic whimsy to them. There’s charm in their grit which is something you can’t get on mainstream website builders. Another reason for choosing to build my website here is that I have an amazing partner who is a coding wizard who helps me when I get stuck. Thank you Andrew I appreciate and love you very much! That being said I still have a lot I want to add on to my website and at my skill level this project will probably be ongoing indefinitely. So if you ever check in on me here and the website is broken, trust and believe I’m working on it stubbornly (for probably a little too long) before folding and asking for help. If you do pop in from time to time to see what's new or to read my ramblings I am eternally grateful. That’s all for now. Thanks for reading!
